Marketing and Engagement Consultant

Lucy Dormont is an energetic marketing professional whose passion for trains drives her innovative approach at the National Model Railroad Association (NMRA), where she serves as Marketing and Engagement Coordinator. With experience spanning all sectors of the railroad community - preservation, industry, railfan culture, and now the model hobby side - Lucy brings comprehensive insights to promoting the world of scale model railroading.

Prior to joining the NMRA, Lucy founded a railroad non-profit in 2020, successfully establishing a museum that preserves local heritage while contributing to economic development. Her industry experience includes working at Atlantic Track shipping rail components. Her fascination with locomotives and machinery began in childhood while accompanying her grandfather to tractor shows, sparking a lifelong appreciation for steam engines and mechanical innovation.

Lucy's marketing expertise is complemented by over a decade of experience in childhood education as a director at The Little Gym, where she developed programming for children aged 4 months to 12 years. This background informs her inclusive approach to marketing, exemplified by her creation of sensory-friendly events for children with autism during her museum tenure.

A recipient of the "Top 20 Under 40" award in 2021, Lucy's professional journey has taken her from Athens, Alabama to San Diego, Virginia Beach, Mississippi, and now Memphis, Tennessee, where she actively participates in the Bluff City Division of the NMRA.

Lucy balances her professional commitments with family life as a dedicated wife and mother of two boys. Her guiding principle - "One right thing at a time" - reflects her commitment to ethical leadership and kindness in both her personal and professional endeavors.
